 Organize your household items by upcycling these tin cans. 

Items you’ll need:

  • Tin can
  • Acrylic paint
  • Chalkboard labels (or any of your choosing)
  • Chalk or marker

Start by thoroughly cleaning off any leftover glue and dirt on your can with warm water and dish soap. You can choose to prime your can with a primer or white paint to make your colors more vibrant. After you’re done prepping your can decorate it in any way you like! Organize your desk essentials, kitchen utensils, and so much more.

Get more bang for your buck with from your pods by gardening by upcycling these cans for plants. 

Items you’ll need:

  • Tin can
  • Soil
  • Seeds or pods

Plant some herbs to add to your cooking or coffee… Puncture drainage holes to the bottom of your tin can to prevent from over watering your herbs. If you have a compost garden of your own you can add your soil to the planter. Keep in mind the herbs you plant will have different care instructions, but they make a great addition to your home decor and can help save a couple bucks on your next grocery run.

If you want to get really fancy, this tin can craft turns your coffee tins into a source of light.

Items you’ll need:

  • Tin can
  • Hammer
  • Nails
  • Sheet of paper
  • Pen, pencil, or marker
  • Tea light candle (battery operated preferred)
  • Tape
  • Scissors

Take your scissors and cut a piece of paper that will fit around your tin can. Now, here’s where the creativity - and a whole bunch of tin can crafting - comes in. Take your writing utensil and make a bunch of dots in the pattern of your choosing and tape your paper around the can. With the right amount of strength, start hammering the holes of your design with a nail and hammer. Lastly, remove the taped piece of paper and  place a tea light candle of your choice in your can.
